Mongolia Taimen Camps
Remote Mongolia fly fishing for taimen and lenok, guided by the Sweetwater team that pioneered the fishery.Sweetwater Travel pioneered taimen fishing in Mongolia. After nearly 30 years and hundreds of happy anglers, Mongolia remains one of Sweetwater's favorite fly fishing destinations in the world. The operation has been refined for comfort, expertise, and a serious shot at the fish of a lifetime.
If you are traveling all the way to Mongolia to fish, it matters who you fish with. Sweetwater's guides have been in Mongolia every year since 1995, and over that long history the team has broken just about every world record for taimen on a fly rod.

The Fishing
During the week, anglers fish for impossibly large taimen and Asian trout called lenok, often with dry flies. The guide staff is experienced, professional, and deeply familiar with the water and the rhythm of the camp.
For many guests, the landscape alone would justify the trip. For fly anglers, Mongolia adds the possibility of a taimen that attacks a skated fly or mouse pattern in a remote river valley.

Why Mongolia
The trip is as much about place as it is about the fish. Undeveloped river valleys, healthy forests, and Mongolian riders moving stock through fall river meadows are part of the daily experience.
Sweetwater's long history in Mongolia matters here. The team has spent decades learning the fishery, refining camp comfort, and building the guide culture around catch-and-release taimen fishing.
