Agua Boa Amazon Lodge
Clear-water Amazon fly fishing for peacock bass, arowana, pacu, and other jungle gamefish on Brazil's Agua Boa River.Agua Boa Amazon Lodge is located on a clear-water tributary of the Amazon perfectly suited to sight fishing. Anglers target all three species of peacock bass, along with arowana, pacu, and other Amazon gamefish in a setting that feels as wild as the fishing is visual.
The river is flanked by pristine Varzea flood forest and gallery forest, with hardwood crowns reaching extraordinary heights. Tracks from endangered Amazon River turtles, tapir, and even jaguar are part of the daily backdrop, and the return ride to the lodge through the river's winding bends is one of the great pleasures of the trip.

The Fishery
The rivers and tributaries around Agua Boa Amazon Lodge are rich and diverse. Peacock bass are the headline species, and possible fish include butterfly peacocks up to 10 pounds, paca or spotted peacocks up to 20 pounds, and temensis peacocks up to 24 pounds.
Peacock bass are among the toughest freshwater gamefish available to fly anglers. Their topwater strikes can be explosive, and once hooked they bring a kind of savvy power that feels completely different from trout or largemouth bass fishing.

The Setting
This is fishing in a living jungle landscape. The Agua Boa is bordered by flood forest and pristine gallery forest, and guests regularly see evidence of the wildlife that moves through the watershed.
After a productive fishing day, the run back to the lodge through the meandering river bends is part of the experience, especially as the forest comes alive in the evening.
